Saturday Special - Finchley Methodist Church, Ballards Lane, Finchley N3 1NB - 6.30pm -  Saturday 5th October, 2019 - Admission Free.

Members are invited to attend an evening of nostalgia.

A musical tribute to Robert Docker presented by Anthony Wills is followed by a presentation of the life and music of Lionel Bart, by Geoff Bowden and David Reed.  There will be a refreshment interval.  More details in the latest Soirées Musicales.




Quartet Camerata & Symphonia Academica: Concerts October & November

Quartet Camerata returns to the Letchworth Music Club to perform the opening concert of their 2019/20 Concert Series. The quartet will be performing Bridge’s Three Idylls, Mendelssohn’s quartet in a minor op13 and the the string quartet by Ravel.

Cambridge festival of Ideas 2019: Journeys in Four Dimensions
The Mumford Theatre, Anglia Ruskin University, East Road, Cambridge, CB1 1PT
Admission: Free
Symphonia Academica looks at the changing life of Anglia Ruskin University from its creation in 1858 as the Cambridge School of Arts to the present day. To mark the university’s development the ensemble has chosen to perform Beethoven’s string quartet in f minor Op95, Shostakovich’s quartet no.7 and music for computer games by composers at the ARU. The concert forms part of the Cambridge Festival of Ideas 2019.

In a concert to mark Janet Hick’s 50th season as the leader of the Hitchin Symphony Orchestra, Peter Bussereau will perform the violin concerto by Schumann and the Romance for violin and orchestra by  Dvořák. The concert will also include Butterworth’s By the Banks of Green Willow and Edward German’s Suite of Incidental Music from Romeo and Juliet.
