Saturday 25th November, 2017 - St. Mary's Church, Redbourne

David Beaman writes...

Julie and I were invited by St Mary’s, Redbourn, to present a
concert in aid of Open Doors UK. This is such a worthy charity so we were
delighted to put something together.
We in turn asked some of our colleagues and it is fantastic that Mike Gray
(violin), Mike Briggs (viola, organ), Katharine O’Kane (cello), Andy Wood
(double bass) all from the BBC Concert Orchestra and Redbourn’s own
soprano, Louise McPhee are joining us for a fantastic evening of music.

The programme will begin with Weber’s Clarinet Quintet, led by Julie. If
you were at Harpenden Choral Society on Saturday you will have heard her
amazing clarinet solos.
Then there will be a rare treat - a duo for cello and double bass by
Rossini, played by another familiar local, Katharine O’Kane (nee Wood)
with Andy Wood (no relation!).
On to an entrancing performance of “The Shepherd on the Rock” by Louise
and Julie.

After the interval we will entertain you with all sorts of delights
including Bach’s most famous organ work, Toccata in D minor (Mike Briggs –
part of Schubert’s much loved Piano Quintet - “The Trout”, and lighter
delights like Knightsbridge by Eric Coates, violin classic “Adoration”
(played by Mike Gray, one time leader of the Scarborough Spa Orchestra),
music from The Victorian Kitchen Garden, some Klezmer and Monti’s Czardas.
Something for everyone, we hope!

Please come along and enjoy our concert – and help to raise funds for Open

See you on the 25th at 7.45 pm.
